Does your model number look like the image below? The first 10-characters (i.e., model and type) stamped on your engine will look like this:

Serial Number = 1B06 4 H10491. Since 5th character in the example is a 4, the year of manufacture would be a year ending in 4. ECHO Model Number Lookup - Label/Plate Information. The model number is located next to the serial number. The engine serial number is made up of several components. For example, a full engine serial number could be PJ56P. Step 2: Locate the Model Number

As shown in the Where to Find Your Engine Model Number video below, the engine model number is generally a number stamped into metal directly on your engine.

Some engines come with a cover or 'shroud'. It should be noted that these covers come in a variety of colors, sizes and shapes. Regardless of your cover, the engine model number will be in one of 5 locations:

Above the Starter

Metal tag directly above the rewind starter

A couple weeks ago I asked everyone to submit information about their Fire TV to try and determine a relationship between a Fire TV’s serial number and its rootablility. I’ve been examining the data and have concluded that it is possible to know what software version is on an Amazon Fire TV just by looking at the serial number printed on the outside of the box. Before posting my findings, I’d like to ask one last time for those who haven’t submitted their information yet to do so now. I especially need submissions from people who’s Fire TVs arrived with version 51.1.1.0 or greater. This includes UK and German units. Regardless of how many new submissions I receive, I’ll post my findings on Monday.

The Fire TV’s serial number can be found in 1 of 3 ways:

  • From the home screen, navigate to “Settings” > “System” > “About”.
  • Look at the label on the box. See photo above.
  • Connect via ADB and run the command:
    adb shell getprop ro.serialno

It’s been speculated that there may be a correlation between the Amazon Fire TV’s serial number and the software version originally on the device. If it were true, then you could determine if a Fire TV was rootable before purchasing it at a retail store because the serial number is printed on the outside of the box. I’ve created a quick form to gather information about the Fire TV’s serial number, and I’d love if you’d take a minute to help the community by submitting your Fire TV’s information.
